Smile lines may appear endearing, but when fine lines and wrinkles begin showing around our eyes, they are anything but. Like most things, prevention is the better remedies (yes, even – err, especially – for wrinkles and fine lines!) but when actually should you begin to use under eye creams?
In accordance with Lily Kruel, founder of Lily Herbceuticals, “it is never too early to begin caring for your epidermis with perfect eye care habits,” such as an eye cream! Yup, even you younger ones out there have to be jumping on the anti aging bandwagon. And fast ! We asked Lily to discuss her advice on stopping and removing wrinkles and eye lines.
Here’s what you really need to know…
While genetics most surely play a role in your chance of growing wrinkles and fine lines under your eyes, there are lots of things you can try to reduce under-wrinkles and eye lines, especially when you begin young. So, simply because mama has some serious signs of aging, does not mean you’re doomed. When it comes to wrinkles and under eye lines, remember the 3 S’s:
- smoking (a major no-no),
- sun (protection) and
- sleep (which is very important!).
When you have those under control, here’s what you ought to understand at every age:
In your 20s. Hydrate your eyes with a cream which includes anti-oxidants to prevent free-radicals as well as help manage and protect your epidermis. Remember, use SPF as well!
In your 30s. When you begin to see wrinkles and fine lines, that you will (sad, we know!), search for peptide-enriched products which help soften lines and wrinkles.
In your 40s+. This is when you really need stronger and more powerful formulas including components that affect particular skin issues such as retinols.
